Week 28

So this week was good. This one might be a little short though. So this week I went on exchanges twice. I love going on  exchanges and learning for other missionaries. Both days of exchanges I was able to have some sweet experiences with speaking Spanish. The elders I exchanged with (Elder Humphrey and Clifford) are both English Elders. So I have come to really love talking to Spanish speakers. Before I was always scared too. So on exchanges with Elder Clifford we were walking down the street and we saw this Hispanic guy outside on his porch. So we ran over to him and starting talking. It was really cool because I completely understood him and he completely understood me. And that never happens. I talked to him for good amount of time. Sadly he didn't live in Salina but it was still just an awesome experience. The Gift of Tongues is real! And the more we trust in the Lord and have faith the better it works.

So last pday was real fun. We went to this castle in Lindsborg. The castle is on top of this hill and you can see as far as the eye can see from any direction. It was so awesome! I took a ton of pics. We are actually going there again today!

El Senõr Provee

Hey everybody!
Another awesome week in Kansas is in the books. This week was quite the week. I have had a cold and have been super sneezy but I'm doing better. Elder Colemere and I had been working super hard all week and we weren't seeing any success. In fact quite the opposite many of our investigators fell off. It was really frustrating to be honest. But we didn't give up. Saturday came around and the Lord provided. Saturday we met a ton of people that were pretty interested in learning about the church and a couple speak Spanish. I love it when we get to use our Spanish.
Then later Saturday night we had a lesson with this family, they hadn't been progressing very much. Missionaries have been working with them for quite some time. We brought our ward mission leader with us and it was awesome. He was super bold with them (in a good way) and the spirit was super strong.
Then Sunday rolled around and that was the busiest day of church ever. We walked into church and sat next to one of our investigators. A couple minutes later our ward mission leader grabbed my shoulder and said, "Elder, there is a family of four sitting in the back that came to check out the church, would you go sit with them?" We very gladly went a sat by them and got to meet them a little bit. After Sacrament meeting they gladly gave us their contact information and told us to give them a call and stop by sometime this week. We are pretty excited about that.
So like 2 weeks ago a inactive member called us and said he was on the verge of suicide and didn't think he could make it any longer. We testified to him and he said we could come visit him. We drove down to his house immediately. That was one of the weirdest lessons ever. He was super drunk and had the largest beer can collection I have ever seen. It was really hard to teach him when he was as drunk as he was and how he thought god wanted him dead. We were there for some time and before we left we gave him a blessing. He said he would come to church. But we weren't to sure if he would actually come. He ended up coming. And then yesterday he came again. He came up to us and said "thank you so much for visiting me a couple of weeks ago. Since you left I haven't had any desire to drink alcohol and haven't touched it since. I have also been reading the Bible everyday." It was so awesome so hear that from him. He is a totally different man now and he is happy. The atonement
can change anyone no matter the circumstance. The church is so true.

Power of Prayer and Burgdogs

Hey everyone!
These past couple of weeks have been really awesome.
So a cool experience that we had. We were riding our bikes around talking to people and we weren't having much success. So we said a prayer and asked Heavenly Father to guide us to someone who is ready for the restored Gospel of Jesus Christ in their life. Shortly after we ran into Tonya. She was really accepting to our message and had desires to come closer to Christ and to change her life. She gave us her address and told us to stop by the next day. The next day comes and we discover that the address she gave us didn't exist. It was kinda a let down but this kind of stuff happens a lot so we are used to it. But later that day we prayed again and asked Heavenly Father to lead us to someone. Shortly later we ran into Tonya again! She told us how she just moved to Salina and told us the wrong address and then gave us the correct address. We have had some amazing lessons with her. After our first sit down lesson with her we invited her to pray if our message is true and if she should keep meeting with us. Her reply, "I already did that, and I want to keep meeting with you" Such an amazing experience. Prayer and faith are so powerful! The church is true!!!
So this week has been hot. Thursday it hit 80 degrees! It was so nice. That day we went and biked up Indian rock which is like the only hill in Salina. I took some pictures so you can see the beauty of Salina Kansas. It's all dead, brown, flat, and ugly but I love it.

Week 24

Hey mom!
This week has been awesome! We have met some cool people. Not a whole lot to talk about though. We did a ton of biking around. This week we had zone training (which means I have a picture!)
Transfers are Wednesday and I am staying in Salina with Elder Colemere. I'm pretty happy about it. I'm excited for this next transfer. Sounds like an exciting Super Bowl. That sucks the pats won 🤦🏼‍♂️I'm not surprised though.
We have been biking a ton. We have a full time car but we have been biking so we can meet more people.

Missionary Work 2.0

So I had an awesome week this week. Tuesday we had exchanges and I got to go to Concordia for the day with Elder Folwell. When we first arrived we went to visit one of their investigators, he tells me that the investigators husband (Jamie) speaks only Spanish. When we get there the only one home is Jamie. He invited us in and said that we could talk to him. Well Elder Folwell is and English missionary. We sat down and we talked with him about the restoration and the Book of Mormon he seemed to understand me for the most part. And I struggled understanding him because he spoke 'old man' Spanish (which is mumbled quiet and unclear) but thanks to the gift of tounges we were able to have a solid lesson with him. It was really cool. And before I left Salina I felt prompted to put a restoration pamphlet in my coat pocket. During the lesson I took out the pamphlet to show him the picture of the first vision and he said, "can I have that?" It was a cool experience. Then Wednesday there was a worldwide missionary broadcast that was awesome! They made a big change to missionary work. They changed our mission schedule which is awesome. Before every morning was set at 8:00 personal study 9:00 comp study and so on. Now they let us have our studies and meals at anytime of the day pretty much. And then they changed our weekly key indicators.
Also this week we had an MLC that was awesome. Elder Colemere and I got to go because they invited some of the district leaders to come. Brother Donaldson who was the mission president in District 2 (if any of you know what that is) came and taught us a ton! We also are changing a lot of stuff in our mission. We can now use skype to teach. And we are going to get facebook. They are coming out with the District 3 videos. They are also changing a ton of other things too. It's such a big change I just call it Missionary Work 2.0. I learned so much this week!

Such an eventful week!

5 Months

This week was pretty awesome we saw a ton of miracles this week. There is this one investigator that we have that hadn't been progressing very much but, we had some super awesome lessons with her and she has progressed tons! Then the other day we saw some guy on the street as we were driving down the street so we gave him a picture of Jesus and got his number. Then the next day we decided to give him a call and it was crazy. He has been going through a big rough patch and he was having some suicidal thoughts. So we testified of God's love and then we asked him if we could meet with him and he let us. We went and met with him at the park and had an awesome lesson with him. We are going to see him again tonight. God places us where we are needed!
This week was also really warm. Like 50 degrees everyday this week.
That's an awesome bishopric. Drifty and Shane:) are awesome.
The Salina ward is cool. It's an interesting place. We do have a Spanish family that we are teaching but we can't see them very often because they work a ton. Hopefully Kinley gets feeling better. And it sounds like Blake hasn't changed since I left.
Reggie sent me a ton of pics with her and elephants looks like she is on vacation not a humanitarian trip. Dad is still working out everyday? He really must be scared that I will beat him in a fight. You are the best!  I love you tons!

Week 21

I am good. Salina is a cool place. This week was kinda uneventful so I don't have too much to say. It really hasn't been super cold. Everyone was freaking out about the ice storm and it barely even hit Salina. There was only a little ice on the trees and stuff. The road weren't icy at all. Reggie sent me her blog post but none of the pics came with it. If you could forward me some pics that would be cool. Thanks for being so awesome love you tons.
