Week 84

Hey Everyone!
This week was a great one! I’ll start off by saying that Logan Hobbs got baptized this weekend! Logan Hobbs has been meeting missionaries for quite sometime probably about a year. But now since he is married he was able to finally get baptized. But holy cow Satan did not want him to get baptized this week. Wednesday we had a lesson with him about the Iron Rod and the Tree of Life and how we need to continually hold to the rod because the adversary is going to try to do everything to stop him. And then on Thursday he was driving to the church for his baptismal interview when only a block away from his house his car broke down. His wheel disconnected from the axle and got all messed up. So he gave us a call and we sped over to him. We called some members to help out and they came in clutch... we had the bishop and a recent convert come and they worked hard on the car. Let’s just say it was a little stressful and took like an hour and a half. But we got the car towed by the bishops truck and then finally got his interview done. Then later in the week he had some family opposition and stuff and that wasn’t good but Logan held fast to the Iron Rod and got baptized and confirmed on Sunday!
Also this week Elder Brent H. Nelson came and visited the mission and we had an amazing Zone Conference and MLC with him. After MLC Elder Mujica and I went to visit the Hernandez family! It was so fun to see them all again. They are doing great and Josue is really thinking about serving a mission!
Also we had an awesome lesson with our investigator Kadin. He wants to prepare to be baptized! He came to Logan’s baptism and loved it!
So this week was awesome and full of milagros!
The weather is still crazy Saturday there was up to 40 mph winds it was intense. Everyday has been real windy this week just not as much as Saturday I was really hoping for a tornado but nothing happened 😔 but it looks like it’s been getting
warmer in Smithfield if you are out jumping in the tramp.

Week 83

Hey everyone!
This week was great! The weather this week was very bipolar Wednesday was really hot! It was like in the 80s & then Thursday was freezing! It was in the 40s but the wind was so intense it made it feel a ton colder. And we were on bikes so that day was an adventure. I thought cache valley weather was bipolar but it’s nothing compared to western Kansas.
Anyways this week we were working with our investigator Logan a lot. We had some awesome lessons with him about the priesthood so he will be able to receive it after his baptism. He is getting baptized this Saturday!
Also this week was had a lesson with another investigator Emanuel we taught the plan of salvation and it was going great! He told us that he believes that the Book of Mormon is true and that Joseph Smith was a prophet. So we invited him to be baptized and he said “no I’m firm in being catholic” So invited him to pray about it. Later in the week we had a do or die lesson with him and brought his member friend with us. We went over the restoration and the spirit was real strong & reinvited him to be baptized and he said that he would be open to it!
Elder Brent Nielson is coming to the mission and we are going to have a big zone conference with him. It’s going to be great! It’s tomorrow so we are driving to Wichita this afternoon.
Also as of today I only have 4 months left 😱

Week 82 Conference Weekend

Hey mom!
Conference weekend was awesome! Holy cow! President Nelson isn’t here
to play he is awesome! Awesome changes! I did get my package it came on Friday or Saturday I believe so right on time! Thank you so much! I thought the April fools egg was funny. And the hydro flask was inspired I needed a nice water bottle thanks!
This week was awesome! The temple was awesome! We took pictures but they haven’t sent them out yet. But I got one. We found out this week that we are going to be the first mission in the entire world to get instagram! I didn’t think that would ever happen but we are going to get it soon. Not really sure when but if you see me on instagram you now know why. We went to a catholic mass this week with our investigator Emanuel. It was real weird. The whole mass was rote & they focus more on idols rather then the Savior. Emanuel came to the Sunday morning session of conference. He went to a members house to watch it. We texted him after and asked him what he thought. He said
that he loved it and told us a couple talks that he liked and how one of them almost made him cry. It was awesome! We are gonna meet with him hopefully tomorrow. So that’s a huge milagro!
After the temple we got back to Wichita at like 6 so we stayed the night in Wichita and Elder Mujica is in garden so he stayed the night too so we went together to visit Hermana Castañeda we baptized her daughter Josselyn and were working with her husband. She recorded a video of us and said that she was going to send it to you on Facebook.
Have a great week!
Oh and transfers are this week and I’m staying in Liberal with elder Ortiz!

Week 80

Hey Everyone!!!
This week was busy but awesome! We we went to Guymon, OK for a District meeting in my zone and then went on exchanges with them in liberal. It was fun. Then on Thursday we had to go to Dodge City to do baptismal interviews. It’s about 1 1/2 hrs from dodge. We left at 3:30 and then crazy stuff happened including on of the people getting baptized didn’t show up and wouldn’t answer his phone so when we started heading back to liberal the elders called us and said to turn around and come back so we did (he just lost his phone at his aunts and went to get it and then got pulled over) anyways then we left dodge and then had a zone leader call that night at 9:15 but since we weren’t home we had to pull over in a town in the middle of nowhere and the conference call was an hour and after that we still had an hour drive back home and got back to our apartment at 11:30pm. So that was adventure.
But I’m loving liberal! We have a pretty big teaching pool that includes 2 families that are really interested. One is the Acosta family. We have been teaching them for a couple of weeks. It’s a family of like 7 but like 2 of them arnt too interested yet but the others are way cool and they pretty much already know the Book of Mormon is true. They just work Sundays and can’t come to church :/
The other family is a younger couple with little kids but we taught them the restoration last night and they were freaking out that there is a prophet on the earth and were just fascinated with it. So they looked up a picture of President Nelson. Thats was a cool experience. Both of the families speak Spanish so it’s even better.
We also have this investigator Logan he has met with missionaries for a while but wasn’t ever baptized because he is living with his fiancée. But long story short they are getting married this weekend at the church so we are having a wedding and then he is going to get baptized on the 7th of April.
So things are going great! I hope all is well with all of you!

Week 79 Baptism

This week was real busy. We had exchanges with the APs in Wichita on Wednesday so we had a good long drive. Then the next day we had a MLC meeting that took all day Thursday then we drove back to liberal friday morning. Saturday was awesome because  I got to baptize Freddy Gonzalez! It was awesome! So that’s my 3 sentence run down of my week!

Week 77 Life in Liberal

Hey everyone!
My first week in Liberal has been super awesome! Fun fact, Liberal is where Dorothy’s house from the Wizard of Oz is. So when Dorothy tapped her heels together and said there’s no place like home she came to Liberal Kansas. So there are tons of statues of Dorothy everywhere. And even a museum dedicated to the Wizard of Oz.
Anyways let me tell you all about the amazing milagros that are happening here! So the Sunday before I came here a guy named Freddy showed up to church. The Elders found out that he wasn’t a member and had been meeting with the missionaries in Las Vegas. This week we have been teaching him and he has a super strong testimony of the church! He was on date to get baptized the 10th of March but we had stake conference that weekend so we told him we could either move it up a week of back a week. He said he was planning on making a trip out to Vegas this week and to move the baptism back. Then Sunday night he texted us and said that he didn’t want to wait any longer to get baptized and that he would postpone his trip so he could get baptized on the 3rd of march! He has his priorities straight for sure! So we have a baptism this weekend!
We are also teaching a ton of other people. There is a family of like 10 that we are teaching. Only like 4 of them are super interested as of now but it’s super awesome because they have great desires to learn and get closer to Jesus Christ. And they prefer speaking Spanish! It’s so great to teach in Spanish again. I’m a little rusty due to 4 1/2 months in an English area but it’s coming back. There is a lot of Spanish in liberal so I’m real pumped for that!
Transfer day I drove from Junction City to Wichita to Guymon Oklahoma then back tract to liberal. So it was a ton of driving and we didn’t get to the apartment till like 10pm
On the bad side I wrecked on my bike Sunday night (we have to share a car so we bike half the time) but the lord provided and I didn’t get hurt at all! Be safe when biking across a railroad crossing at night 😂 ¡Todo bien!
I got a good amount of pictures this week from saying adios to Junction (I’ll send them in a separate email)
I hope you all are doing well and having a great week!

Week 76

Hey everybody!
Transfer news is in... and I’m getting transferred!! I am going to be transferred to Liberal, Kansas and I’m going to be a zone leader too so that’s exciting! I’m excited for this opportunity. Liberal is a bilingual ward so I’ll be able to speak Spanish again! My companion is going to be Elder Ortiz I don’t know him but I think he is a fluent Spanish speaker! It’s gonna be sad leaving JC and not going to be able to fully train elder Riley.
This week was a really good week. One of our investigators Dwayne has been progressing pretty well. He has met with missionaries like almost a year ago and we started teaching him again these last couple of weeks. We had some great lessons with him and he really wants to start living the word of wisdom now! It’s gonna take him some time but he will get there!
Also this week I had exchanges with Elder bischoff. It was fun.
Have a great week everyone!

Week 74

This week was good! I can’t really remember everything that I did. But we have been busy. We have this one investigator named Joshua he is really cool. And to put a long story short he really wants to turn his life around and follow Christ so he really wants to get baptized. So that’s awesome! I’ll tell you more about him in future weeks.
I did find sister Cluff and we took a picture I don’t have it so I can’t send it to you.
That’s awesome to hear that the Court of Honor went good.
Love you tons!

Sorry this picture is a little trashy

Week 71

Hey everyone!
This week was crazy and fun! So something really awesome was that I got to go with the Kellogg elders Monday to Wednesday morning because I was companion less after Elder Hall left for Ecuador. I had tons of fun those couple of days. I was able to go and meet a lot of members and say hi to them again. I was able to see the Chairez family, the Rodriquez family, the Hernández family, and the González family. It was so fun to see them all again. When we went to see the Hernandez family (Which is Jason, Joe, and their brothers) we were walking up to the door and Joe was walking home from school and saw me and ran up to me and gave me a big hug. It was really fun to see that family now that they are all active and members now. Except the mom and step dad. It was also awesome being back in Kellogg because I was able to teach some lessons in Spanish!
So Wednesday was transfer day and I was able to meet my new trainee. His name is Elder Riley and he is from Phoenix. He is really tall. But he is cool. We were able to have a lesson with Matthew and Ruth and we talked about prayer and read Lehi’s dream with them. It was really cool because Ruth made the comment how she has ‘felt good as we meet with you and when we went to church’ we explained how that is the spirit testifying of the truth. She replied, “I know it’s the Holy Spirit” so that was awesome how she has been able to recognize the spirit! They both came to church again!
It’s been really cold this week and it has snowed twice!
